Rwanda and Jordan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in standards, metrology, testing, certification and trade facilitation, in a move expected to enhance quality infrastructure and support stronger commercial ties between the two countries.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Ambassador James Ngango on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Rwanda and the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO), Jordan’s national standards body.

The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation in the development and harmonization of standards, metrology, testing services, issuance of conformity certificates, technical capacity building and initiatives that support trade between Rwanda and Jordan.
The partnership is expected to facilitate the exchange of technical expertise and best practices while strengthening institutional collaboration in quality infrastructure. It also seeks to improve product compliance with international standards, enhance market access and create a more enabling environment for bilateral trade.
The agreement also opens opportunities for collaboration with the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization, whose mandate includes promoting environmental protection through technical regulations, quality standards and conformity assessment systems that help ensure products meet safety, quality and environmental requirements.
The MoU reflects the two countries’ shared commitment to strengthening quality infrastructure, supporting businesses and enhancing the competitiveness of their products in regional and international markets.
