As November comes to a close, Rwanda is preparing for a mix of rainfall, shifting temperatures, and varying wind conditions that highlight the country’s diverse environmental zones.
Meteo Rwanda’s latest forecast, covering 21–30 November 2025, shows weather patterns that closely follow the country’s geography, from cool, rain-rich highlands to the drier, warmer landscapes of the east.
Rainfall Highlights Rwanda’s Environmental Contrasts
Rainfall during this 10-day period is expected to range from 10 mm to 90 mm, depending on the region.
The Western Province, known for its mountainous terrain and thick vegetation, will receive the heaviest rainfall. Areas such as Nyamasheke and Rusizi districts (excluding Bugarama), along with the western parts of Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, and Karongi, are forecast to receive 65–90 mm. These wetter conditions typically support the region’s forests, rivers, and soil moisture levels.
Moderate rainfall (50–65 mm) is expected in the remaining western districts and much of the Northern Province, reinforcing the wetter climate patterns in Rwanda’s highland ecosystems.
Meanwhile, below-average rainfall is projected for Kigali City, the Eastern Province, and many parts of the Southern and Northern Provinces. The easternmost areas of Gatsibo, Kayonza, and Kirehe may receive only 10–30 mm, reflecting the naturally drier conditions of the region.
Across the country, residents can expect 3 to 6 rainy days during this dekad, influenced largely by the position of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) over Rwanda.
Temperatures Follow Elevation Patterns

Temperature forecasts also show strong links to Rwanda’s varied landscapes.
High-altitude districts including Nyabihu, western Musanze, Burera, Ngororero, and parts of Nyamagabe and Nyamasheke will experience cool daytime temperatures of 20–22°C.
On the other hand, warmer conditions of 28–30°C will dominate Kigali City, Bugesera, the Amayaga region, Ngoma, Rwamagana, Nyagatare, and the Bugarama plain. These warmer zones are characteristic of low-lying areas that heat up more quickly during the day.
Nighttime temperatures will range from 10–20°C, with the coldest nights expected in the highlands and the warmest in the Eastern Province and Kigali.
Moderate to Strong Winds Expected
Meteo Rwanda is also forecasting moderate to strong winds (4–12 m/s) across much of the country.
Stronger winds, ranging from 8–12 m/s, are likely in Rubavu, Rutsiro, Kirehe, Karongi, northern Nyamasheke and Rusizi, central Gicumbi, southern Kayonza, and parts of Ngororero and Rulindo.
Other areas, including Nyagatare, Gakenke, Musanze, western Kigali City, and several districts in the south and east, will experience moderate winds. These wind patterns can influence soil stability, farming activities, and vegetation in exposed areas.
Public Advisory
Because some of the expected rainfall may be accompanied by thunder and strong winds, Meteo Rwanda advises the public to take precautions and follow the guidance of local authorities. This can help reduce potential impacts on communities, farmland, and local ecosystems.
