Stakeholders in environmental communication are set to converge in Brazzaville for the FOMADECIE-BC event in March 2025

The FOMADECIE-BC (Forum on the Development of Environmental Communication and Information in the Congo Basin) will take place in Brazzaville, the capital city of the Republic of Congo, from March 18 to 21, 2025. This significant multi-stakeholder forum is expected to attract over 250 attendees, including 150 journalists representing more than 50 African media outlets, as well as communication and environmental specialists from both private and public sectors.

The primary goal of FOMADECIE-BC is to create a collaborative space for environmental stakeholders in the Congo Basin to explore and implement innovative strategies for effective environmental communication. This initiative is seen as essential for advancing conservation efforts in the region. Participants will comprise communication experts from various environmental ministries, project managers, representatives from international organizations, researchers, leaders from civil society, business professionals, and environmental advocates.

The event will encompass a range of activities, including training sessions for journalists, thematic workshops, side events, high-level conferences, roundtable discussions, and media gatherings. These activities will address critical environmental topics such as biodiversity preservation, climate change, and the sustainable management of natural resources, all underscoring the vital role of communication in tackling these issues.

Organized by Afrique Environnement Plus, FOMADECIE-BC is supported by institutional partners like the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), and the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP), as well as various public and private organizations from member countries of the Congo Basin.

Additionally, the forum aims to foster regional cooperation and enhance synergies for action to bolster the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources within the Congo Basin, marking it as a pivotal event for the evolution of environmental communication.
