Nyabisindu and Nyagatovu, two bustling neighborhoods in Kigali, are undergoing remarkable transformations as part of a broader effort to upgrade the city’s infrastructure and housing. Previously characterized by poorly planned homes, insufficient roads, and a lack of essential services, these areas are now being revitalized with modern amenities and infrastructure.

Key Upgrades in Progress

The ongoing upgrades include:

1. 8.7 km of New Tarmac Roads – Enhancing connectivity and easing transportation.

2. 3.5 km of Drainage Systems – Addressing flooding and improving sanitation.

3. 18 New Bridges – Boosting accessibility across the neighborhoods.

4. 5.2 km of Footpaths – Providing safe and convenient pedestrian pathways.

5. A Football Pitch in Nyabisindu – Offering a recreational space for the community.

6.A New Market in Nyabisindu – Supporting local businesses and improving access to goods.

Progress Update

The roadworks, a critical component of the project, are now 70% complete, contributing to an overall project completion rate of nearly 50%. These upgrades are expected to bring significant benefits, including improved safety, enhanced mobility, and better living conditions for residents.

Transforming Kigali’s Future

The transformation of Nyabisindu and Nyagatovu is part of a broader vision to modernize Kigali’s neighborhoods. By creating cleaner, greener, and more organized communities, these upgrades aim to accelerate development, boost quality of life, and make Kigali a model city in urban planning and sustainability.
